133 Committee

The 133 Committee owes its name to Article 133 of the EC Treaty .

It is set up by the Council in accordance with Paragraph 3 of this article and is a weekly meeting that advises and assists the European Commission on trade policy. It is made up of experts from the economics ministries of the individual member states. Representatives of the Commission and representatives of service organizations also take part in its meetings.

The 133 Committee prepares the decisions of the Council within the framework of the competence under Article 133 EC.
