The Cannone-mitragliera da 20/77 (Scotti) was an Italian anti-aircraft gun that was captured by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

history

The weapon developed by Oerlikon in Switzerland in 1932 was introduced into the Italian army in 1937 as a licensed construction with the designation Cannone-mitragliera da 20/77 (Scotti) . Alongside the Cannone-mitragliera da 20/65 modello 35 (Breda), it was the standard gun in the field of light Italian anti-aircraft weapons . After the Italian army was disarmed in September 1943, some could be used on the German side under the designation 2-cm-FlaK Scotti . They mostly remained in the Italian theater of war or were used in Yugoslavia to fight partisans . The highest level of operational flak in the ranks of the Wehrmacht was reached in February 1945 with 497 units.

The 227.5 kilogram flak could attack targets up to 3500 meters with its 0.125 kilogram bullets. Initially with a loading frame of twelve rounds each, later also with belt ammunition, a theoretical rate of fire of 230 to 250 rounds per minute could be achieved.
