A residential and commercial building is located at 22-34 Bridge Street in the Scottish town of Penicuik in the Midlothian Council Area . In 1990 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in the highest category A.

The building is on the A701 , the main road from Penicuik, in the south of the city. It was built in 1860 as living quarters for single women from the workforce of the nearby Valleyfield Mill . Five shops were also set up on the ground floor, one of which still exists today. The building was designed by the Scottish architect Frederick Thomas Pilkington . The west-facing front is designed with an archway in the Moorish style . The windows end with round arches , some of which are grouped into twin windows . On the upper floor, they are also designed with center posts. Only the window in the gable is rectangular. A bay window with a hipped roof protrudes from the south-western edge of the building . The windows are made with ornamented central posts. The roof is covered with gray slate.
