development

In 1945, work began on a 25 mm anti-aircraft gun, which was to be used mainly in smaller classes of ships such as torpedo speedboats and submarines . The gun was produced in series from 1950 to 1984 and installed in more than 30 ship classes. A special version 2M-8 for use in submarines was developed until 1954, but its use is unknown, as no more guns were used on Soviet submarines at the end of the 1950s.

A modified version is called 2M-3M.

technology

The 2M-3 is a 25mm double-barreled gun with stacked barrels. The gun is aligned manually using a hydraulic drive. In addition to air targets, the gun can also fight ground targets. The ammunition is supplied via belts with 65 cartridges each . The gun is air-cooled, and provision is made to cool the barrel with water when changing the belt.
