Spectral class T8
Physical Properties

2MASS J09393548-2448279 is probably a double system consisting of two brown dwarfs . The object belongs to the spectral class T8, lies in the constellation Hydra and is around 17 light years away from Earth. It was made by Tinney et al. identified as a brown dwarf by analyzing the 2MASS survey data (publication 2005). Model calculations indicate that it is a system of two brown dwarfs with effective temperatures of around 500 and 700 Kelvin and masses of around 25 and 40 Jupiter masses, but a pair with temperatures of 600 K and 30 Jupiter masses each would also be possible. The components of the suspected system are among the coolest brown dwarfs known.
