386th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 386th Infantry Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up on April 1, 1940 in what was then the Generalgouvernement of Poland . On August 13, 1940, the unit was dissolved again.

On November 25, 1942, the 386th Motorized Infantry Division was re-established in Frankfurt an der Oder . The division was renamed the 3rd Infantry Division (motorized) on March 1, 1943 . The old 3rd Motorized Infantry Division had previously been completely destroyed in the Battle of Stalingrad .
