3DLabs was a company that manufactured graphics cards for the professional sector until 2006 . It was founded in April 1994. In October 1996, the company's shares began trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange . In July 1998 Dynamic Pictures took over , in July 2000 a division of Intergraph . In June 2002, 3DLabs was acquired by Creative Labs (now renamed Creative Technology ) for approximately $ 104 million. At the beginning of 2006, the development of graphics chips in the “Professional Workstation” area was discontinued in favor of handhelds. At that time, the global market share of 3Dlabs graphics cards, including all graphics chip manufacturers, was estimated to be less than 1%.

In January 2009 the name was changed to ZiiLABS and a second incorporation into Creative Technology.

3DLabs was a member of the OpenGL Architecture Review Board and played a significant role in the development of OpenGL 2.0, for which their Wildcat VP series of graphics cards was the reference platform.

The GLint 300SX graphics processor is believed to be the first single integrated circuit to support 3D computer graphics .
