The villa was built in 1909 for the Scottish publisher William Alexander Collins ( William Collins, Sons ).

description

The villa is located about two kilometers northwest of Monkton not far from Prestwick Airport on Southwood Road . It is in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement designed with a cantilevered, covered up with gray slate pitched roof . The north-east facing front of the two-story building is almost symmetrical. Three distinctive gable surfaces dominate the front and rear sides of the eaves. The gray color of the roof is continued over the facades, which are clad with the same panels up to the level of the ground floor.

The entrance area is located in the middle below the central gable surface. It is designed with a recessed tympanum with a flat segment arch and is flanked by two narrow, vertical lead glass windows. Above it are three triplet windows with steel central posts. All six gable surfaces are designed with quadruple windows. With the exception of the entrance area, half-octagonal cantilevers protrude from below all gables , which extend over two floors. The back of the building is designed in the same way as the front.
