48 × 61 is an anime short film by the 61-year-old director Rintarō at the time of production , which he produced for Katsuhiro Otomo , manga author and also director, for his 48th birthday.

action

The 61-year-old Rintarō and the 48-year-old Katsuhiro Otomo compete in a bizarre bicycle race that starts off leisurely at first. After a short while, however, they both come up with special aids such as a motorized bicycle helmet or an energy drink of a different kind. In a steep curve it is no longer possible for them to brake in time, they land in a river and continue their run underwater themselves. The short film ends with the two of them sitting on a tandem driving at a leisurely pace behind a steam engine.

The music for the short film comes from the composer Toshiyuki Honda .
