There are two residential and commercial buildings at 5–7 The Cross in the Scottish town of Prestwick in the South Ayrshire council area . In 2008 they were included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category C.

description

The related buildings date from the middle of the 19th century. They are on The Cross in the old center of Prestwick, diagonally across from the Old Town Hall . The north-west facing front is constructed almost symmetrically. Shops with flat, simple shop windows are set up in the one-story buildings on the ground floor. Double-leaf wooden doors separate the window areas. The ground floor ends with a simple wooden cornice. The remaining facade surface is plastered with Harl . The buildings close with a slate-covered gable roof . Two dormers with hipped roofs are installed on the front .

The buildings are considered to be rare examples of the typical 19th-century shop design. The largely unchanged facade with the preserved rectangular shop windows is worth mentioning. The interior, however, no longer corresponds to the original condition. In addition, a rear annex was added in the course of the 19th century.
