The buildings are on the west side of Main Street in the city center. On July 20, 1971, the buildings were included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B as an ensemble . The house names are occasionally used to specify the buildings . They start in the south: Macdonald (No. 75), Carmichael (No. 76), Lochindaal Hotel (No. 77), Lochindaal Bar (No. 78),Miss Gillespie (No. 79) and Gillespie (No. 80).

description

The six buildings were built as an enclosed construction along Main Street and take up the entire side of the street between School Street in the south and Pier Road in the north. While four of the buildings are used as residential buildings, the two middle buildings house the Lochindaal Hotel with its bar, which is named after the Loch Indaal bay on which Port Charlotte is located. The buildings date from the early 19th century. Buildings 79 and 80 are externally built according to identical plans. In all cases there are two-story houses that end with slate-covered gable roofs . The entrance doors are located in the middle and are symmetrically surrounded by five lattice windows. An exception is house number 76, which has two windows to the left of the door, and house number 75, which also has three windows on the ground floor and a door that is not in the center. The buildings are traditionally built on areas of 10.5 × 8 m 2 each . The facades are mostly plastered using the traditional Harling technique.
