Aly & AJ (from 2009 to 2015: 78Violet ) is an American pop music - Duo from Torrance , consisting of the sisters Alyson Renae Michalka "Aly" and Amanda Joy Michalka "AJ". They are also songwriters and actresses who began their careers at Disney .

They celebrated their first hit in the United States in 2005 with the song Rush , which reached number 59 on the US Billboard charts. Two more chart singles followed before they had their biggest hit to date with the Potential Breakup Song in late 2007 . It made it into the top 20 in the USA and also made it to 22nd place in the UK.
