The 9 mm Steyr cartridge was developed for the Steyr M1912 pistol used in the Austro-Hungarian army before the First World War. It is also known under the name 9 mm Roth-Steyr.
According to the CIP table, the gas pressure is 1450 bar. The case length is 23.20 mm, but not to be confused with the more modern 9 × 23mm Winchester cartridge.
The diameter of the case base is 9.70 mm. The muzzle velocity is around 330 m / s. The projectile energy is 525 joules.
