A + is a program package for the A programming language , which was developed in 1988 by Arthur Whitney at Morgan Stanley . When looking for an APL implementation for SunOS , it was decided to program in-house to meet the demands of investment banking for high capacity and high performance in the area of ​​financial calculation. After the development phase, A was combined with other modules to form the A + program package.

An official development group was formed in 1992.
