The A99 road ( English for road A99 ) is a 55 km long road in Scotland , partly designated as a primary route , which branches off the A9 road in Lantheron and leads close to the coast via Wick to John o 'Groats on the north-eastern tip of Scotland.
course
The road with this number has been running with this number since 1997, since the A9 was led through the inland to Thurso , from Latheron close to the coast to Wick, where the A882 road branches off towards Thurso, where it loses its character as a primary route and cuts off the peninsula leading to Noss Head and meets the A836 road in John o 'Groats , which runs parallel to the north coast to Thurso. The A99 continues a short distance to the seasonal ferry terminal (passenger ferry) to Burwick on the island of South Ronaldsay .
