ABC states
ABC nations is the collective term for the South American country A rgentinien , B razil and C hile .
In 1899 these states signed a number of treaties that provide for arbitration in disputes and mutual assistance in the event of aggressive actions against one of the states. This was done to protect against US action , particularly the Monroe Doctrine .
