ABS pumps

ABS is a brand for pumps from the Swiss Sulzer Group. The German production company for submersible pumps and submersible motor mixers in Lohmar , ABS Deutschland GmbH, was renamed Cardo Flow Solutions Germany GmbH in 2010 . The historical name ABS remains as a brand.

A lbert B lum, 1930 in S born cheiderhöhe, made an electrician apprenticeship at Klöckner in Troisdorf . In evening classes he attended an engineering school in Cologne . In 1953 he made his master . His first company was an electronics store in his parents' home. In 1957 Albert Blum founded ABS, which manufactured the submersible pumps he had developed and by 1962 already had 150 employees. After the establishment, plants were founded in Ireland , Brazil and Alsace . The company had over 1000 employees. After an IPO was rejected, Albert Blum sold ABS to the Swedish company Scanpump in 1989 .

From 1990, Scanpump was renamed Cardo, which was taken over in March 2011 by the Assa Abloy Group (production and distribution of locking systems, electromechanical products, security doors and fittings). In August 2011, the Swiss industrial group Sulzer took over the Cardo Flow Solutions division and integrated it into its own Sulzer Pumps division . The Lohmar company with 180 employees will be closed at the end of 2017.
