AIDS Memorial (Munich)

The AIDS Memorial in Munich is a blue pillar that was erected at Sendlinger Tor in 2001 and unveiled on July 17, 2002. The designer of this column is Wolfgang Tillmans , who won a city competition to design an AIDS memorial with his design . He recreated the stela columns from the nearby Sendlinger Tor subway station.
The memorial bears the following inscription:
- AIDS
- the dead
- the infected
- their friends
- their families
- 1981 until today
