Lists on the subject

The ALARM ( A ir L aunched A NTI R adiation M issile ) is an anti-radar air-to-surface missile from MBDA , primarily for suppression of enemy air defenses was developed. In its role, the ALARM is similar to the US AGM-88 HARM , but the mode of operation is different.

ALARM missile at Panavia Tornado

After the ALARM has started, it rises to a height of 13 kilometers in the direction of the targeted radar display. If the radar station switches off in the meantime, the rocket switches off the first stage of its rocket drive, opens a parachute and slowly glides towards the target / ground. If the radar station goes online again, the ALARM drops its parachute, ignites the second stage of the rocket engine and attacks the target. The ALARM was used by the RAF and the Royal Saudi Air Force from 1990 . The British Air Force retired the ALARM at the end of 2013.
