AN / SQQ-89
The AN / SQQ-89 is a modern submarine hunting system for surface ships. It is produced by Lockheed Martin .
description
With the SQQ-89, a comprehensive sensor fusion was carried out for the first time in the field of submarine hunting. It combines the data of the bow sonar , the tow sonar as well as the diving sonars and sonoboys of various anti- submarine helicopters in order to then provide a fire control solution for the weapon systems on board. Since the system is used on a large number of ships, there is a correspondingly large variety of variants.
Variants and platforms
Comments on the individual sub-systems:
- AN / SQS-53 : A sonar system on the bow of the ship
- AN / SQR-19 : A tow sonar for surface ships
- AN / SQQ-28: Processes sonar data from LAMPS III helicopters
- Mk 116 ASWCS: A fire control system for ASROC launchers and Mk 46 torpedoes
- WAP (Weapons Alternate Processor): A fire control system on board the Oliver Hazard Perry class
- SIMAS (Sonar In-situ Mode Assessment): A computer system for ship's own sonar systems
