The ATM air interface (for example: ATM air interface ) is the transport method for ATM cells on radio links . Asynchronous transfer mode is generally transmitted as a payload of PDH or SDH signals on radio links .

An ATM air interface with a different framework method that is specialized for the respective application is always a topic of standardization organizations such as the ATM forum . It is most often for the radio interface between a mobile phone and a base station of the mobile radio brought into the conversation. The last approach ultimately led to the standardization of the ATM Adaptation Layer AAL2.
