ISDN controller A1 in PCMCIA version

AVM A1-Card is the product name of the Berlin company AVM GmbH for an ISDN card . It is the forerunner of the AVM Fritz Card and was only built and sold as an ISA and PCMCIA card.

This version was the CAPI protocol by most Microsoft Windows - operating systems and many Linux supported distributions. After modifying the connection cable (on the card side, the nine-pin Sub-D plug was replaced by an RJ45 plug ) and the chipset, the modified card became a “consumer” variant with the software package Fritz! , which was not included in the scope of delivery with the A1 card, was sold more cheaply than the Fritz! Card .

The first FRITZ! Card Classic model had the label "AVM ISDN-Controller A1 3.0 FC" on the circuit board. For some time, both cards were sold side by side, the Fritz! Card as an inexpensive consumer version and the A1 card as the more expensive, passive professional version, whereby the active AVM B1 card should be used for demanding server applications .

There is also a PCMCIA version of the A1 controller, under the product name AVM ISDN-Controller A1 PCMCIA .
