Jan Hax Halama

Jan Hax Halama (born May 23, 1975 in Gießen ) is a contemporary German graphic artist , stage and costume designer and head of equipment for drama , opera , dance and ballet . In the course of his career to date, he has worked in theaters and stages in Germany , Italy and the Netherlands since 1995 and has worked in Linz , Austria since 1998 . From 2012 to 2015 Halama worked as chief stage designer for the Tyrolean Festival Erl .

Life

Halama completed his basic training at the technical college for design in Giessen. He was an assistant at the Folkwang University in Essen, at the State Theater Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in Neustrelitz, at the City Theater in Gießen and at the Münster City Theater. He then worked as a set and costume designer in Münster, Marburg, Gießen, Neustrelitz, Frankfurt am Main, Amsterdam, The Hague and, since 1998, in Linz. From there he moved to the Landestheater Linz , in 2003 to the Children's Theater , where he was head of equipment until 2006. In the years 2007 to 2012 he was responsible for the graphic appearance of the Landestheater Linz division: "u \ hof: theater for young audiences" and contributed a number of stage and costume designs under the director Henry Mason .

In 2012, Halama was brought into permanent engagement by Gustav Kuhn as chief stage designer for the Tyrolean Festival Erl. Until 2015, he was exclusively responsible for the sets for the Summer Festival and the Winter Festival in the new festival hall by architect Delugan Meissl . More than fifteen opera sets were created (including "La Traviata", "Rigoletto", "Il Trovatore", "Nabucco", "Tosca", "Don Giovanni", "Lohengrin", "Der Ring des Nibelungen")

Since 2014, Halama's activities have been expanding and again placing more emphasis on graphics. As head of marketing for the "Ensemble: Porcia" (the former Komödienspiele Porcia ), in 2014 he comprehensively developed the new public image, the CI and CD of the traditional theater in Carinthia. He also continued to work as a set designer for the comedy stage equipment.

With the 2016/17 season, Halama moved to Theater Ansbach. In addition to 5 sets per season in the theater, he is also responsible for the relaunch of the public appearance for the season 17/18 as head of marketing and graphic designer .

Awards

  • His work for the production "How does the earth tear up her throat" for the Thirty Years War was invited to Amsterdam, the Flaams Cultureel Center and The Hague by the Goethe Institute .
  • At the beginning of his activity (2003) in the Children's Theater he was responsible for the project management of the conversion and redesign of the theater building with the development of a multifunctional auditorium solution, conversion of the stage, workshop and office solution. As head of equipment he was also responsible for the public appearance of this theater.
  • For “ Linz 2009 - European Capital of Culture ” in 2007 Halama was responsible as a project developer for the children's and youth culture area.
  • In 2014 Halama designed the stage equipment for Richard Wagner's "Ring des Nibelungen" for the Tyrolean Festival Erl.
