AVM Fritz! Card
The AVM Fritz! Card ( spelling AVM FRITZ! Card ) is an ISDN card for PCs from the Berlin manufacturer AVM .
history
The first cards under the name AVM Fritz! Card were ISA cards that were configured with jumpers . They were later renamed AVM Fritz! Card Classic . The successor models were ISA plug and play cards, which simplified installation and configuration.
These were replaced by the PCI version that is still in use today (as of 2015) , of which there is also a low-profile version. It is supported by most Microsoft Windows operating systems and by many Linux distributions via the CAPI protocol . The PCI card has come in different designs over the years. The card is currently in version 2.1, which, unlike its predecessors, also fits into 3.3V slots.
The Fritz! Card PCI is the last model in the series for which AVM still provides support . According to AVM, it is "the world's best-selling ISDN card".
Other, but no longer available Fritz! Card models:
- Fritz! Card USB v1.0 and v2.0 as ISDN controller and Fritz! Card PCMCIA
- Fritz! Card DSL SL , a card designed exclusively for the DSL connection.
- Fritz! Card DSL , a combination card that combines ISDN and DSL in one product. Should DSL fail, access to the Internet via ISDN is still possible. It is also possible to send faxes via ISDN.
