The non-profit association Aachener Schauspielschule eV is responsible for the vocational school

Offer and training

A two-year professional training course to become an actor is offered. Optionally, the training can also be completed part-time as an evening school . During the training period, the focus is mainly on the practical subjects: acting, camera acting, dance, singing, speech training, stage combat and biomechanics. For admission, the Aachen Drama School therefore requires at least a technical college entrance qualification.

With the Ensemble Blanche, the Aachen drama school maintains a professional theater ensemble made up of students and graduates of the ASS, which performed in 2015 at the Jülich Theater with the production “Die Schneekönigin”. In the following year 2016, the production was performed in the town hall Alsdorf. The purpose of the ensemble is to make it easier for students to start their careers. In addition, the ASS produces La vie de Jean-Marie , its own TV comedy series, which was broadcast for 4 episodes by the Belgian Broadcasting Corporation (BRF). The roles in La vie de Jean-Marie are filled exclusively with lecturers, graduates and students from ASS. In addition, there are collaborations with the city of Jülich's music school, Haus Overbach and the Burgtheater Overbach, a professional stage at the Haus Overbach grammar school in Jülich-Barmen.

The two-year training ends with the dismissal of the former drama students as professional actors for film, TV and stage.

Youth work

In the field of youth work, the ASS is part of the national child support initiative “Kulturstrolche”. Children in grades 2 to 4 attend drama school once per school year.

Content

The Aachen Drama School offers students training with the aim of practicing their profession as actors on stage or in front of the camera. Vocational training at the ASS is essentially based on the methods of Konstantin Stanislawski , Evgeni Wachtangow , Lee Strasberg and Wsevolod Meyerhold . From the first year of their apprenticeship, the pupils of the ASS play in theater productions by the school's own ensemble, both independently and in close cooperation with various directors.
