Abū Quhāfa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abū Quhāfa ( Arabic أبو قحافة, DMG Abū Quḥāfa , also ʿUthmān ibn ʿĀmir ibn ʿAmr ibn Kaʿb  /عثمان بن عامر بن عمرو بن كعب) was the father of the first caliph Abū Bakr . Little information exists about him; however, it is questionable whether this information and the sources from which it is obtained are reliable.

The descent from the Banū Taim clan , which belonged to the Quraish , is certain . He probably converted to Islam on the day of the conquest of Mecca .
