history

Built under Sultan Hosein in the 17th century and dedicated to his mother, the building complex was originally designed as a madreseh , bazaar and caravanserai . Even then, the building flanked an eight by eight meter, square garden.

In 1957, on the advice of the then director of the Iranian Archeological Service (IAS) , André Godard , the caravanserai was restored and converted into a hotel, while the basic structures of the complex were retained. A pool typical of Persian gardens leads through the symmetrical garden .

In 1965, the reconstruction work of the complex was completed, with the original façades of the caravanserai being preserved and the caravanserai rooms being converted into artistically decorated hotel rooms. In 1971 the hotel complex was expanded to include an area of 11,500 m².
