Abbassos
Abbassos ( Latin Abbassus ) or Ambason ( Greek αμβασον ) was an ancient city in Asia Minor in Phrygia .
It is mentioned by the Roman historian Titus Livius on the occasion of his detailed description, going back to Polybius , of the campaign of the consul Gnaeus Manlius Vulso against the Galatians of Asia Minor. According to this, this consul touched in 189 BC During his march to Galatia , Abbassos, who at that time was in the border area to the tribe of the Tolistobogier, was also there. The city was probably near Synnada , but could not yet be precisely located.
