Abbo (Bishop of Saintes)

Abbo († before 999) was Bishop of Saintes at the end of the 10th century .

On June 1, 989, Abbo took part in the council held in the Charroux Abbey under the chairmanship of Archbishop Gombaud of Bordeaux , at which the implementation of the peace of God was proclaimed for the first time through threats of excommunication of church abusers and attackers of unarmed clergy . In 990 Abbo was present at the consecration of Bishop Alduin of Limoges. At the latest in 999 Islus took over the episcopate of Saintes.
