Bishopric of Saintes
The diocese of Saintes ( lat. : Dioecesis Sanctonensis seu Xanctonensis ) was one in France situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Saintes .
history
The diocese of Saintes was established in the 3rd century. The first bishop was St. Eutropius de Saintes .
On November 29, 1801, the diocese of Saintes was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the papal bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the dioceses of Angoulême , La Rochelle and Poitiers .
