Later portrayal of Friedrich II receiving petitions to the linden tree

The petition linden tree stood in Potsdam on Humboldtstrasse, on the southern corner of the City Palace . It was the most famous tree in the city. In the place of the original tree there is now a second linden tree , which is also called the petitioned linden tree .

history

The linden tree takes its name from the petitions that were handed over to the Prussian kings there. Frederick the Great in particular , who had a good view of the tree from his study in the castle, regularly received supplicas there . Later, those from the linden tree were simply pinned to the branches.

A data code is also attached to it, which can be used to connect directly to the website of the Petitions Committee of the Brandenburg State Parliament via mobile phone in order to be able to submit a petition there on the spot , the parliamentary form of petition.
