Burning phenomenon
Under Abbranderscheinungen all changes are counted in a burning object by the effects of the flame , the heat and the smoke arising on the existing combustible as well as noncombustible materials. The signs of charring are varied: charring and waffle formation on the wood, soot plumes over building openings, carbonization gas deposits, flaking on concrete, plaster and masonry, burn-in and through-burns, annealing and bending of iron parts, etc.
The Institute for Police Training (IpAF) in Güstrow defines the terms fire consumption (frequent misspelling: fire distortion) for criminology as the extent of the burn on solid materials, and the burn scar as the surface and depth of the burn, i.e. the appearance of the Destruction. In the area of forensics , scientific investigations are carried out in order to reconstruct the occurrence of the fire from the fire.
