She grew up in Sussex and studied political science , philosophy and economics at the University of Oxford . During her studies she worked for the New Musical Express and CosmoGirl! . Her first published novels are Sophomore Switch and The Popularity Rules . Her debut has so far been sold to Germany, Poland and Japan. Bertelsmann acquired the rights for the German-speaking area .
