Abdoulaye Gueye (born March 10, 1951 in Dakar ) is a former Senegalese football player .

Career

Gueye grew up in his home country Senegal and began playing football there before emigrating to France and in 1973 at the age of 22 in the squad of the second division RCFC Besançon . From the beginning, the player came on regular assignments, which did not change in the following seasons, and reached the middle of the table with the team. In this way, Gueye aroused the interest of the neighboring first division club FC Sochaux , from whom he was signed in 1977. Despite a strong advancing youth, he enjoyed the trust of his coach and had a regular place in his first two years. In the 1979/80 season, however, he was completely ousted from the team and only ran in two league games, even if he was able to celebrate the French runner-up with Sochaux.

The Senegalese treaty was not renewed in 1980; this had the consequence that the second division Stade Brest signed him. At Brest he was one of the top performers again and made it to the top division in his first season. He kept his regular place in the elite class for a year before losing it to Jean Pierre Bosser. In view of this, Gueye decided in 1983 at the age of 32 after 108 first division games with two goals and 154 second division games with five goals to end his career.
