Stale

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stale 's Heraldry a technical term with which a fish is described with its mouth open. In contrast , the fish is emblazoned with its mouth closed as animated. When describing the heraldic animal dolphin , these two terms are used accordingly. In the dolphin, the tinging of the eyes, beard, comb and ears also differs . In the Critical Dictionary of Heraldic Terminology, pp. 2 and 16 by Curt O. von Querfurth, the terms are questioned as to their necessity in the description of the coat of arms , since it is considered irrelevant whether the fish's mouth is open or closed.
