Spawning brushes (also: spawning brushes ) are aids for the artificial reproduction of fish, especially in the breeding of Koi carp ( Cyprinus carpio ).

Wild carp need aquatic plants to lay their spawn . In carp ponds with a high stocking density, such plants are often not sufficiently available. As a substitute, elongated round brushes with soft bristles are usually offered near the shore. These can easily be removed and moved to the rearing container. Compared to natural aquatic plants, this method reduces the risk of injury during courtship play and the risk of fungal infections.
