history

Above Symmetry was founded in 2005 by Robin Ognedal, Nikolas Henriksen and Joachim Strøm Ekelund. The first demo was released in 2005 under the band name Illusion. This demo is also the only work by the Finns that was not recorded with Atle Pettersen. The second demo Illusion was recorded with Håkon Vøllestad on bass, who was replaced by Rein Blomquist after the recordings.

The Finns were able to record the greatest success with the EP Square Edged Circle , to which the label InsideOut Music became aware. It was InsideOut Music who advised the band to use the band name Aspera for licensing reasons.

Aspera Ripples' debut album was released on January 22nd, 2010 in Germany. On April 22, 2011 it was then sold under the new band name Above Symmetry.

criticism

Markus Grunow wrote about Ripples on Metalnews.de:

"If you were hateful, you could only reproach the band for not offering enough new things overall. But the debut succeeded even without completely new sound innovations and can be recommended to all prog listeners without hesitation. ASPERA should be kept in mind, sorry keep in mind. "

Mathias Klammer wrote about Ripples on Metal.de:

"Ripples turned out to be an almost very good album that whets the appetite for more progressive material from ASPERA."
