A Abreißanzünder is a mechanically auszulösendes ignition of pyrotechnic materials. The detonator differs from the detonator in that it is not explosive .

Structure and use

In the case of a detonator, mechanical pulling on a spiral-shaped wire, which is pulled through a metal plate coated with a heat-sensitive material, generates a spark through the frictional heat, which ignites a pyrotechnic mass and causes a flame.

Detonators are used for pyrotechnic sets (e.g. fireworks or distress signals). In Austria , detonators are only permitted for avalanche detonation if they have been x-rayed in the factory before being sold , as an accident that has not yet been fully clarified is attributed to a faulty detonator. In Austria, detonators are generally only permitted for the avalanche watchdog and the avalanche detonator . Breakaway ignitors should also not be used when artificially triggering avalanches from a helicopter , as they are not vibration-proof.

In the military sector, detonators are used in a variety of ways, including for hand grenades .
