Absentee booklet
Absentenheftheftführer are at Bavarian secondary schools (usually two) pupils who support the class leader in checking compulsory school attendance and absences . Furthermore, they usually act as a substitute for the class representatives in the first few days until the class representatives are elected .
As a rule, the absentee notebooks carry out the attendance check (in silence) as well as the collection of apologies on their own. If disciplinary action is necessary, for example because a classmate cannot or does not offer an apology after being warned several times, contact the class teacher. Where these tasks have to be taken over by the teachers due to the lack of a class association (in the college level), this leads to regular loss of time (attendance control) or a noticeable administrative burden in larger schools.
Unlike the class representatives, absentee booklet leaders are not elected but appointed by the class leader; this reflects the function to be performed by them.
