In tailoring, tapping is the front edge of a jacket or coat in the area between the bottom closing button and the hem.

Apart from special forms such as B. on tailcoats , there are two main forms:

• the straight pitch, mainly in uniforms , (single-breasted) coats and double -breasted suits
• the round rack, which is mainly used for single-breasted machines .
