The Abbey Mater Ecclesiae is a Benedictine - Abbey on the Isola San Giulio in Orta in Piedmont . It was founded in 1973. It is consecrated to the Marian patronage of Maria, Mater Ecclesiae ( mother of the church ). The nuns are known for making paraments .
