Badge "For Long Service"

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The badge "For longer service" ( Russian Знак "За сверхсрочную службу" ) was a military award of the former Soviet Union , which was donated on August 1, 1957 by order of the Minister for Defense of the USSR. The badge was awarded to members of the land, air and naval forces of the USSR who were not older than 35 years and who voluntarily extended this after five years of compulsory service.

Appearance and wearing style

The badge has the shape of a gray-black wing, in the middle of which a golden five-pointed star can be seen on a light blue background. This star is surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, which shows a waving flag on its upper side, which, depending on the deployment of the longer serving, the flag of the land forces (red flag), the air force (blue with yellow rays) or the naval fleet (white with red star) of the USSR shows. On the underside of the oak leaf wreath there are two eyelets, on which a triangular pendant with the number of years serving longer is indicated. The badge was worn on the left side of the chest of the recipient among the other medals awarded.
