Acanceh is a place in the Mexican state of Yucatán . Acanceh has almost 11,000 inhabitants and is the administrative seat of the municipality of the same name Acanceh .
Acanceh is located about 28 kilometers southeast of Mérida , the capital of Yucatán. The next bigger towns are Seyé , Timucuy and Tecoh .
The history of Acanceh can be traced back to the early classical period of the Maya culture . In the center of today's city is the Mayan site of Acanceh with two pyramids and the palace of the stucco friezes. In the immediate vicinity of the pyramids is the Nuestra Señora de la Natividad church from the 16th century.
