Acerra philologica

Acerra (lat. Incense box) was a popular book title in the 17th century for collections of memorabilia from the field of science. As Acerra philologica were selected useful, funny and memorable stories and explanations for insertion into the antiquity. Peter Laurembergs Acerra philologica (1637) and Newe and augmented Acerra philologica (1658) were among the most widely read books of the time.
