Achenbach (Siegen)
Achenbach is an area in the Alt-Siegen district of the city of Siegen in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district , North Rhine-Westphalia . It is located in District V (West) and about five kilometers from the city center.
history
Achenbach was first mentioned in a document on February 26, 1307. An officially mentioned testimony of the knight Gyso von Achinbach, who owns an estate in the old town center, dates to that day .
In 1925 the community of Achenbach had a total area of 478.66 hectares and had 553 inhabitants, of which 417 were Protestant, 12 were Catholic and 124 belonged to other denominations. In addition to a fire brigade, there was a water supply. An elementary school was set up. The municipal council had seven seats, one of which belonged to the SPD and two to the DNV, four were non-party.
The community of Achenbach belonged to the Weidenau office . On August 1, 1934, part of Achenbach with 21 residents was incorporated into Siegen. The rest with 531 inhabitants followed on April 1, 1937. Today Achenbach has about 3000 inhabitants.

Achenbach consists of the districts of Heidenberg (with an industrial park from 2002) and Witschert, which are closer to Siegen, as well as the old settlement centers of Achenbach Ort and Achenbacher Furt.
