Ackermann-Göggingen
The Ackermann-Göggingen AG was a German textile company based in Augsburg-Göggingen , Bayern.
The company was settled on the Singold in 1863 in order to use the water power for the production of sewing thread . The company, at that time still called Zwirnerei und Sewing Thread Factory Göggingen (ZNFG), expanded the production facilities with a multi-storey brick building in 1908, with the construction company Thormann + Stiefel, well known in Augsburg, being responsible for the construction.
The factory sewer was built in 1884 to supply the ZNFG . The turbine house of the factory is located on it. Furthermore, a factory colony to the east was built, and to the west of the factory canal, the Gögginger Luftbad , an open area with bathing facilities in the canal. In 1912 the company had 1,481 employees.
In 1957 the ZNFG merged with the Ackermann twisting mill from Sontheim and from then on operated under the name Ackermann-Göggingen AG. In 1994 the company was taken over by Amann & Söhne due to its difficult financial situation .
The former factory building has been extensively renovated. Today it houses apartments and offices.
