Action is a Canadian , English-language television station, headquartered in Toronto , Ontario . The station mainly broadcasts action series and films from various years of production. The station is operated by Shaw Media.

history

The station began broadcasting its programming when it received approval to broadcast from the Canadian Regulatory Authority, Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) under the name Action Television in November 2000. The broadcasting license was given to the broadcaster Alliance Atlantis . On January 18, 2001, Alliance Atlantis was acquired through a joint venture between Canwest and Goldman Sachs Capital (known as CW Media) . Thus the station also belonged to CW Media . On August 31, 2009, the station was renamed "Action" through the takeover.

On October 27, 2010, the station was taken over by Shaw Media. Shaw Media acquired Canwest and the shares in Goldman Sachs Capital.
