Adequacy ("appropriateness") stands for:

  • the correspondence of the spirit with the thing (truth theory), see adequate
  • the correspondence of a model with the real world (philosophy of science), see empirical adequacy
  • the correspondence of a calculus with a semantic (logic), see adequacy (logic)
  • the representativeness of a sample (statistics), see adequacy problem
