Adam Hamilton (organist)
Adam Hamilton (* 1820 in Edinburgh ; † 1907 ) was an English organist, conductor, violist and composer.
Hamilton studied for four years with Friedrich Schneider in Dessau. From 1847 he was conductor of the Edinburgh Harmonic Society , and from 1866 to 1883 conductor of the Edinburgh Choral Union . As an organist, he gave concerts on the organ in St. John's Chapel, built by his brother David Hamilton . He was married to a daughter of Karl Drechsler , with whom he had three daughters, the violinists Bertha Drechsler Adamson and Emmy Drechsler Hamilton and the pianist Lucie Drechsler Hamilton , and a son, the musician Carl Drechsler-Hamilton .
