AddThis is a bookmarking service that makes it easier to bookmark websites. This is made possible by buttons that display a list of bookmarking and sharing services when the mouse pointer is hovered over or clicked on.
AddThis can be added to their websites by people and companies for free. Registration is required via the AddThis homepage, after which any buttons can be inserted. All you have to do is insert a few lines into the website's HTML code.

According to reports from some news portals, AddThis has tested canvas fingerprinting, a new tracking technique that makes it almost impossible to protect yourself from tracking on the Internet. According to the company, the test phase has now ended and the corresponding code has been deactivated. Canvas fingerprinting makes it possible to clearly identify the user in around 90 percent of cases and thus to analyze his surfing behavior. Researchers at Princeton University and the Catholic University of Leuven have found the code on around five percent of the world's most visited websites. Allegedly, this technology was used without the knowledge of many site operators.
